We received hundreds of kind messages of thanks from people who took part in the celebrations. You can see some of them here…’
I am sorry but words will not be sufficient to cover the thanks to you all for what was a truly fantastic event. For us it was simply brilliant. Thank you all so much for the long hours and hard work. Regards, Mike Davies
Just a quick note to say well done to the team for the splendid organisation and a spectacular week! I’m sure you’re much relieved that it all went well. From the perspective of just one of the punters, I had a great time, Prescott, meeting old friends, the bar, the gin bar, the coffee bar (not necessarily in that order!), David Mawby, pop up museum, the programme and accommodation, but generally the great smooth organisation. It was a memorable event just as it was meant to be! Many thanks again, Dr Trevor Turpin.
Congratulations to everyone who was involved in creating such a wonderful event. Almost too much to see and absorb despite arriving on Wednesday and leaving on Sunday. A super relaxed and friendly atmosphere seemed to prevail the whole time. It used to be said of Brooklands Race Meetings that they had ‘ the right crowd and no crowding’ – it seems to me this could be applied to last week at the Centenary Event. Once again heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. Kenneth Kimber.
It’s difficult to know how to tell you and all the team what a wonderful job you all did in organising such an event. It’s unlikely any of us who came will ever attend such an event again. We’ve just had a fantastic time. Please on our behalf find the words to thank everyone involved for a wonderful week. Mike and Frances Griffiths.
Please would you pass on my thanks and congratulations to the organising team for a fantastic event. I hope you will all be proud of everything you achieved so warmly and efficiently. Ian Nelson.
Bev and I thought it was a great event and very well organised. The goody bag was great and the final day with so many Austin 7s present was the best display ever. Again, thanks for your tireless efforts in helping organise it. John and Bev Blackham.
My husband and I just want to say that the Austin Seven event held on the 19th to the 24th July 2022 that you organised WAS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! – I know that it is nearly 4 weeks since this event happened but I do not think I have come back down to earth yet! – still re-living what a great time we had. All those Austin Sevens all together at the same time [and we know that there are still hundreds still out there that did not attend] – We have had our 1925 Austin Chummy since 1966 and during the sixties, seventies and eighties we used her regularly to go on holidays and rallies. [I then used the Chummy to travel to and from work for many years until some “knocking” prevented me from driving it and the car was “garaged” ] Thank goodness the celebration for 100 years came up because this gave my husband the incentive to fully restore her again in order to attend your big rally. We did the Lands End to John O’Groats twice and attended the 1972 and 1982 Longbridge events. I took my scrapbooks to this centenary so I could look out for people we hoped would still have their Austin Sevens. AND they did!! – we met many old friends and had a great time catching up with them all. -The only thing was, the time went too quickly!! I just want to put in writing a big thank you, for organising this event – so well run – great place to hold it – secure – Hotel accommodation great, meals very tasty – could not ask for anything more. So WELL DONE everyone. On a sad note , I do not think we will see such a big collection of Austin Sevens for a wonderful celebration in our life time ! The good news is, now that Chummy is up and running we will try and use her as much as we can! [makes me feel young again being in her and brings back happy motoring memories] THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN. Pam and Derek Hawthornthwaite
Just to Say: A big `Thank you` to all those who organized and helped to make the A7 Centenary 2022 event so successful. It was amazing !
On behalf of our family I would like to say a very big `thank you` to all the Organizers and amazing Team of volunteers of volunteers who organized, prepared the site, marshalled , managed The A7 Centenary 2022 event held in Moreton in Marsh,. It was truly amazing! The Fire Station at Moreton in Marsh was a great venue for such a large event and coped really well. . The whole event was so well organized. We thought it was all lovely and we all had a great time. The volunteers all worked so very hard over the days to make the event such a success. They must have been exhausted, especially during the hot weather! We loved the ‘pop up’ museum. What a great idea! Our 5 yr old granddaughter enjoyed the children`s activities. The entertainment. The meals at the fire station. The stalls and displays. We enjoyed the whole thing. Thank you all so much! it was very much appreciated. Very best wishes, Janette & John Horton and family
Can I say thank you to all those who organised the event. It ran smoothly and well, and there was so much to see and do. It was great to see so many other enthusiasts, and also great to see so many different vehicles in all conditions. The food on offer was varied and sufficient. I’m glad I was able to attend on my disability scooter. Thank you again – can we have another one next year please? Best wishes Bill Cordwell
We would like to congratulate the organising team and helpers for a superb event. From the minute we arrived at the gate we were greeted by happy helpful people who escorted us to our pitch. This helpful treatment continued with booking in etc. all of which made for a relaxing enjoyable event. Many thanks. We are so pleased to have been part of this event. Kind Regards Mike & Anne Lawson
I was blown away by the sheer scale of the whole event. Aside from getting 1000 plus cars to attend, the like of which we may never experience again, there was so much else to see too. The impressive pop-up museum was so well curated, not to mention that fabulous line up of single seaters, as if seeing them at Prescott was not enough. It was particularly nice to see the items from the association archives. With all the things that there were to do, the evening entertainment and the amazing goody bags it was extremely good value for money! Thank you so very much for the huge amount of effort and hard work over the last two years. It’s hard to describe to people just how good it all was. I do hope that you were able to relax and enjoy the event just as much as the other 2,500 people did! Kind regards, Marcus Gillah.
And now it’s 28th July and this is to say an enormous THANKYOU for a wonderful time at the College, for the Austin 7 Centenary. None of us there will know how much went into the preparation of the event but, for it, we are so grateful. My little 1934 RP van enjoyed herself; her journey there from Buckinghamshire, the smiles and hilarity on the roads that all the Austins brought with them from all over the Austin World. She enjoyed being parked with her van “sisters” on the Saturday. A safe journey home and now resting in her garage. She joins me in the delightful memories of a ‘never to be forgotten’ true celebration. Sincerely, Judy Walker and “Sarah”
On behalf of Hazel and myself I would like to thank you and all your helpers for the wonderful four days we enjoyed at Prescott and at Moreton – In – The -Marsh. It was wonderful to see and meet so many other Austin 7 owners, who all seemed to have the same interest, and we made many new friends. Many thanks to you all, for a wonderful four days. Peter & Hazel Miller
To all organisers and volunteers involved with the A7 Centenary. A note of thanks for all the hard work put in by all of the volunteers whilst organising a fantastic event for all of us Seveneers to enjoy. The Prescott day in particular was very special. To see so many historic cars in the paddock and running up the hill was something I doubt we will witness again. The atmosphere was very much a period one and no doubt enjoyed by all. The remaining days at the Fire Brigade College were full of interest with everything seemingly going smoothly to plan at a venue that proved perfect for the event. The big day itself, with more than 1,000 cars present, was something very special, a meeting of the clan that I doubt could ever be repeated. Many thanks to all concerned. Kind regards, Dave Simpson
We would like to thank you for the fantastic organisation of the whole event. It was well planned with such a variety of interests and activities , on a superb site. the accommodation was good and every one very helpful and friendly. To round off each evening with different great bands and dancing in the marquees was just splendid. Of course the highlight was encountering our little quaint Austins running about the grounds and the locality. In gratitude, John and Mary Follows
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved in the centenary weekend, it was so well organised and a real success. We had a great weekend and your hard work appreciated. John and Julie Gundry
On behalf of all Hereford Austin Seven Club attendees – can I please thank you and the whole organising Committee for masterminding a truly fabulous event. Clearly, a huge amount of thought and hard work had gone into the planning & preparations – which enabled everyone to enjoy a fantastic A7 centenary experience. We were delighted to hear there were over 1,000 Sevens present on Saturday – an amazing achievement. It was a thoroughly enjoyable event from start to finish and we all had a wonderful time. Thanks again – everything much appreciated. Roll-on 200 years! Best regards, Bob Garrett
Thank you so much for the wonderful weekend of Austin-ing and for all your hard work in organising and running the whole show.
Thoroughly enjoyable and brilliant to see so many Austin 7’s in one place. I am afraid I will not be around for the 150th event but I am so pleased to have been around for the 100th. Thank you again, and please pass on my thanks to all concerned. With best wishes, Kate Clark-Kennedy
I am sure your inbox is bursting at the seams but we still felt the need add our congratulations and thank everyone involved in the Austin 7 Centenary event at Moreton-in-Marsh for making it such a special occasion. We ran out of superlatives early in the week but it was an appropriate tribute to the small car that has such an impact on the automotive world. We are proud to have been part of it. Thank you. Kind regards
Tim, Avril and “Esmerelda” Ovenden
Before the magnificent Centenary Rally is all done, dusted and forgotten (never forgotten!!), may I thank you for the tremendous amount of hard work that you all put in to make this once in a lifetime event run smoothly – and it did. I suppose one expects Austin 7 volunteers to be nice chaps and helpful but the fire college people could not have been more helpful and friendly either. I have just two regrets. The first is that the tail end of the heatwave delayed my journey up so that I missed the historic Austins going up Prescott (my fault entirely) and the second is that I cannot go back this week and pick up on some of those little details that I missed. So in a way, my event was “topped and tailed” but what a magnificent filling there was in between, with good friends, laughter and good humour thrown in as well. Thank you all so much. Richard Perkins.
I wish to thank you and your team for all your hard work over a long time for organising the event which has been a huge success and given many people a great deal of pleasure. Well done to you all. With very best regards William Cole
WOW!, WOW!! and thrice WOW again!!! To EVERYONE connected with the Austin 7 Centenary Celebrations at Morton & Prescott… Proud & privileged to have been a tiny part of the above. Congratulations and thank you. Geoff Roe (The Mars Bar Kid)
What a fantastic event, certainly the largest A7 that I have ever attended, and the organisation was first class. Please extend my heartiest congratulations and also, my very grateful thanks to all of the organising team, they did an amazing job. I thoroughly enjoyed doing a bit of marshalling, so nice to meet and greet everyone, and also, to renew old acquaintances, of course. Sorry I didn’t play a more active role, but coincident with the A7 centenary was my 80th, and I grudgingly admit that I do not have the same level of stamina and energy these days. However, I had a grand time, and the event was a huge success. The venue turned out to be ideal, I thought, and for once, there was ample space, not always the case at car shows. The on-site accommodation was ideal and very conveniently located, and the catering was first class. What more could we have wished for? Finally, all of the FSC staff were so helpful and pleasant. This event certainly ticked all of the boxes, and once again, my very sincere thanks to you and all of the team. Best wishes, Alan Billington
Although Maggie and I didn’t get to meet you all personally we would like to convey a huge thankyou to you all for what was for us a hugely enjoyable and successful event over 5 days in Moreton-in-Marsh, my original home town. In fact I used to play as a lad on the west end of the aerodrome where the wartime Nissan huts once stood. We also photographed our Big 7 Fourlite outside my original home in Evenlode Road where it once stood in the driveway back in 1965! The organization, which we heard from Nick’s speech was three years in the planning, from our perspective certainly paid off. How you kept the entry fee so low is still a mystery to us because we would have willingly paid £25 just for the excellent ‘goody bag’. Prescott was outstanding and it was such a privilege to ride in the first parade, even managing not to have to ‘double the clutch’ into first on out way up! (a bonus given the state of our 128K or 228K mileage gearbox – we don’t know which). The picnic was very enjoyable with good food, excellent company and jolly music throughout. I’m a volunteer at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon but I can honestly say that we have nothing that could match the ‘pop-up’ museum for Austin 7 history, art and memorabilia. Thank you all so much and we look forward to the 110th anniversary and we already have our daughter in training as a driver for the 125th! Yours sincerely, Robin & Maggie Hedger
On behalf of the Devon members who attended the Centenary Celebrations at Moreton in Marsh, I would ask you to pass on our thanks to all the committee for their dedication to organising such a unique and memorable event. You should all be rightly very proud of what was achieved over the course of a magnificent 5 days. With very many thanks, David Aylmore.
Amazing masterclass in the art of organisation. Seamless. A big, big thank you to everyone from me. It was a superb week. Chris Garner.
I would like to thank everyone involved in organising the Centenary Celebration at Moreton In Marsh for creating such a fantastic event.
I know how much effort has gone into the preparation and on-site activity and the result was simply amazing. Nothing like it has been done before and I can’t see that the like of it will ever be repeated. Hopefully a well deserved rest is now possible. All best wishes, John, Elaine and Bentley Newton
Thank you for organizing this most amazing event. It was fantastic to see so many Austin Sevens in one place – a real once in a lifetime event. I would like to thank and congratulate you and all your team, and all your volunteers, who enabled it all to happen in such a well organized manner. The dedication and enthusiasm of everyone involved was incredible. From an exhibiting attendee’s point of view everything went very smoothly and there were lots of interesting cars to see, as well as all the other displays and, especially, the museum. The whole atmosphere around the site was just brilliant. Once again, a big heartfelt thank you and well done to you all. Kind regards and best wishes, Clare Mudie
We had no idea there were so many Austin 7s still around and we were particularly thrilled to see the BC Austin Special and Mrs Jo Jo. We spent a lot of time with the owners of the BC Special and they were tremendously kind in letting the grandchildren and our son sit in her. We have wonderful photos of the day. We could not imagine how my father was able to endure racing in Mrs Jo Jo and how uncomfortable it must have been. It was particularly thrilling to see her name still painted on the bonnet. Altogether a fantastically happy day for us as a family to be able to see in the flesh the cars we have known about all these years but not been able to see. A big thank you to all who made this possible. Very best wishes,
Henry Boyd-Carpenter
My mother, Noreen Johnson (Austin Swallow OU 5833), and I would like to thank all those involved, over so many months/years, to make the Austin 7 Centenary such a very successful event. Every aspect of the event, that we were part of, was expertly organised, from email info and online guidance, gate arrival, onsite direction and welcome pack pick up to signage, layout, trade stands and announcements. The museum/archive was so expertly laid out, what a wonderful couple of hours we spent looking, reading and watching all the incredible documentation, art work and videos. We thoroughly enjoyed Wednesday and on Saturday, the jazz band created a lovely atmosphere and the Spitfire flypast a rare, and moving, treat. Since then, we have had fun watching the videos online and sharing with family who were not able to be there. We did not stay over or take part in the evening events, but it seems everyone there was well entertained. Also impressive was the children’s entertainment! Please pass on our thanks to ALL the team involved in giving so many people such a happy and memorable week. Well done all. Hope a well earned rest can now be taken.
With best wishes, Kathryn Harris
I write on behalf of the members of the Dorset Austin 7 Club who attended the Rally. What a marvellous time we all had, never to be repeated, we are all so glad we came along. Such hard work and dedication from you and your team, years in the preparation, certainly paid off! Lizzy Paton from our Club stood up during the Jazz dance last night and thanked you all to rousing cheers, you all deserve it! Do you have any idea of the final number of cars in attendance? Never has there been so many of our beloved cars all together! Once again thank you to everyone who helped.
Gary Munn.
